The Economics of Orthodontic Care: A Survey of Australian and New Zealand Families

My name is Benjamin Gaffey. I'm a retired specialist orthodontist, and I've spent the last 15 years watching families pay whatever they were told braces cost — because nobody has ever formally asked them what they think a fair price looks like. This research aims to change that.

This short survey asks for your views on orthodontic treatment costs in Australia and New Zealand. Your responses will directly inform health policy recommendations aimed at making orthodontic care more transparent and more affordable.

The survey takes approximately 8 minutes. All responses are completely anonymous. You may withdraw at any time without consequence. This study has ethics approval from the University of Tasmania Human Research Ethics Committee (H0040668).

WIN 1 of 20 x $50 Rebel Sport gift cards! Complete this survey and you'll be invited to take a short follow-up (5-6 minutes). Everyone who completes both goes into the draw. Cards are valid in Australia and New Zealand and drawn at the close of the study.
